Tab Nudge ("the extension," "we," "us") is a browser extension that helps users manage their browsing habits and protect their active tabs through break reminders, password-based tab locking, and screen time tracking. This Privacy Policy explains what data the extension interacts with, how it is used, and how it is protected.

1. Data We Collect

Tab Nudge collects and processes the following types of data, solely on your device:

• Web history (tab activity): Tab Nudge records which tabs are open, how long you spend on each tab, and the total time spent browsing, in order to provide screen time analysis and reminder timers.
• Authentication information: If you choose to use the tab locking feature, Tab Nudge stores a password (in hashed form) that is used solely to lock and unlock your tabs.

Tab Nudge does not collect personally identifiable information, health information, financial information, personal communications, location data, or the content of websites you visit.

2. How We Use Your Data

All data collected by Tab Nudge is used exclusively to provide the extension's core features:

• Tracking time spent on tabs to power the Browser Screen Time Analysis feature
• Triggering gentle reminder notifications when a timer you've set has elapsed
• Verifying your password to lock or unlock protected tabs
• Restricting access to locked tabs while you are away from your device

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to these features.

3. Where Your Data Is Stored

All data used by Tab Nudge — including timer settings, screen time records, lock status, and your hashed password — is stored locally on your device using the browser's built-in storage APIs (chrome.storage). Tab Nudge does not operate any remote server, and your data is never transmitted to us or to any third party.

4. Data Sharing

Tab Nudge does not sell, rent, trade, or transfer your data to any third party. Your data stays on your device and is never sent over the network by this extension.

5. Permissions We Request and Why

• storage — to save your settings, timers, lock status, and screen time data locally.
• tabs — to detect the active tab, monitor tab switches for screen time tracking, and apply locking/reminders to specific tabs.
• alarms — to schedule and trigger reminder timers.
• scripting — to display the lock-screen overlay on a tab you have chosen to protect.
• notifications — to deliver gentle break reminders.
• host permissions — to apply the lock overlay and track time across the websites you choose to lock or monitor.

6. Children's Privacy

Tab Nudge is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from children.
